Potential Dangers
Old-style craft glitter was often made from metal fragments, which would be seriously dangerous if you applied it on to your face. Modern craft glitter is mostly made from bonded polycarbonate infused with dye, but it is no less dangerous to your health if you use it as makeup or body paint. Some people add craft glitter to their eye makeup because it’s cheap, but the colour can leach out if your skin gets moist, which is not great. Craft glitter is also unhygienic. Do you really want to risk a nasty infection from a contaminated batch of glitter? Cosmetic glitter may look very similar to craft glitter, but it is a lot safer to use on your face and body.
